Pollen, an incredible food for your horse

Published on 2019-08-10

Pollen is a product of plant origin, harvested and transformed by bees so that it can be preserved and consumed inside the hive. Flower pollen is produced by the stamens. Each plant species therefore produces a different pollen. Pollen pellets (a processed product) are therefore made up of pollen from several flowers.

Its composition includes: phytosterols (plant lipids), enzymes (catalysts for chemical reactions in organisms), essential amino acids (tryptophan, valine, methionine, phenylalanine, lysine. ), minerals (calcium, chlorine, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, silicon, sulfur, selenium), vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, C, beta-carotene), carbohydrates and lipids, as well as bacteriostatic substances (limit the number of bacteria).

Thanks to this highly varied composition, pollen can be of interest for :

  • stimulating the immune system through its beneficial effect on intestinal flora and its rich antioxidant content.
  • strengthen the cardiovascular system, thanks to its high rutoside content. This flavonoid strengthens capillaries and blood vessels.
  • aid digestion: the enzymes it contains are thought to enhance nutrient assimilation.
  • relieve seasonal allergies as a preventive treatment: bee pollen reduces histamine levels in the body (a molecule secreted mainly by white blood cells, which causes capillaries to dilate, leading to localized swelling).
  • boost energy and vitality through a variety of nutrients.
  • relieve skin disorders through topical application: amino acids and vitamins protect the epidermis and facilitate cell regeneration.

Pollen is the quintessence of the plant and animal world.
