DOES THE MIRACLE PRODUCT EXIST?

Published on 2020-07-09

In all the Facebook groups, I'm always surprised and often shocked by the 'good advice' people give me.
Some products, such as aloe vera, are all the rage and can cure all the ills of the world. Some say it can even make a quadriplegic walk.

Others are fads, like cade oil for dermatitis. This year, this product has been surpassed by Aleppo soap.
And let's not even mention draining, which is the ultimate solution for all illnesses.
Homemade recipes based on essential oils are also interesting for repellents.
Harpagophytum and turmeric are also used in all sorts of ways.

In short, where can you find the truth in 154 comments on a publication about a health problem affecting your horse?
Firstly, you're supposed to have a reference person called a vet.

Secondly, if you want to work in a natural way and in agreement with your vet, turn to people who know plants correctly, with their contraindications and their interference with medication.
And no, just because a particular product worked well for the horse in the next stall doesn't mean it will have the same effect on yours. Does he already have the same basic problem as yours?

One metabolism is not the same as another. Each horse will react differently to a given product.

And yes, some natural products can do a lot of damage.
For example?

Cade oil should always be diluted and applied to the skin for a very short period.
Aloe vera is very interesting externally, but the preservatives used by some brands are highly controversial.
Some draining products contain photosensitising plants. So we drain to avoid skin problems with plants that will exacerbate the problem. Photosensitisation doesn't always happen simply by contact, but by ingesting certain plants whose molecules get into the dermis and react with the sun. And yes, some of these plants are found in your draining products.
Some horses have been admitted to clinics after being sprayed with essential oil-based repellents following home recipes.

Harpagophytum is not an analgesic and is only used for chronic illnesses. What's more, it is the ultimate plant. If you give it to your horse when he's 10, what will you give him when he's 20?

So no, there's no such thing as a miracle product. A professional will never give you the same product for two different horses. After asking a lot of questions, he'll try to find the product (plant) that seems best suited to the horse in the light of the full information you've given him. Above all, he'll ask you for feedback to make sure we're going in the right direction. I've already tried 3 different plants alternately to find the one to which the horse's metabolism responded best. And I often work with other professionals to get to the root of the problem.

So stop looking for cheap deals on the Internet with people who are either interested in making money or who have a rather excessive ego.
Surround yourself with professionals and competent people if you really want to bring comfort to your horse.
