What are effective micro-organisms (EM)?

Efficient micro-organisms are small living organisms, invisible to the naked eye, which require a microscope to be observed. Probably the first forms of life on Earth, they play a vital role in ecosystems, carrying out 90% of the planet's biochemical reactions. They are divided into two categories: prokaryotes (bacteria) without a nucleus and eukaryotes (yeast, algae) with a nucleus.

Composition of Effective Micro-Organisms :

  1. Lactic acid bacteria: Found in various natural environments, they have been used by man since Neolithic times to make fermented foods such as cheese and sauerkraut.
  2. Yeasts: Also known as fungi, capable of provoking the fermentation of animal or vegetable matter, producing energy through fermentation.
  3. Photosynthetic bacteria: Including cyanobacteria and chlorobacteria, they convert nitrogen from the air into ammonium and nitrate, making a natural fertiliser.

The Fermentation Process :

Effective micro-organisms take part in fermentation, a metabolic process that transforms carbohydrates into acids, gases or alcohol to extract chemical energy. The resulting products are antioxidants, vitamins and enzymes, essential for good health.

Balance of micro-organisms :

There are three groups of micro-organisms: dominant-negative, dominant-positive and neutral. In a balanced ecosystem, 10% are positive, 10% negative and 80% neutral. Any imbalance can have harmful consequences for health.

Application of EM in horse feed:

It is advisable to give probiotics (which are good bacteria) to help your horses' intestinal flora.

In conclusion, Effective Micro-Organisms offer an innovative approach to restoring microbial balance in horses, providing a natural route to optimal health. Make intestinal health a priority for your horses with EM.
