The digestive flora of dogs and cats, known as the intestinal microbiota, is the set of microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, yeasts, etc.) that live in the digestive tract. Probiotics promote good health in dogs and cats and the balance of the intestinal microbiota.

An imbalance in the intestinal microbiota can occur as a result of taking antibiotics, for example, or a sudden change in diet.
Some digestive disorders such as chronic inflammatory bowel disease are also characterised by a decrease in the number and diversity of good bacteria and an increase in bacteria that may be pathogenic.

A report highlights the involvement of the gut microbiota in the development of certain diseases such as obesity.
In particular, Enterococcus faecium bacteria have been shown to be beneficial to dogs and cats, both from a preventive and therapeutic point of view. It promotes a balanced gut microbiota and good health (strengthens the body's defences) in dogs and cats.
There are no particular contraindications for taking prebiotics and probiotics. However, some food supplements are not recommended for animals with food allergies due to the presence of other ingredients. This is not the case with Probi'Osmose as it contains ONLY Enterococcus faecium powder and calcium carbonate (useful for the correct dosage of the powder per capsule).
